Through the power of my spirit

A poem that came out of a talk at a regional Advance churches meeting on the power of the Holy Spirit and how vital it is if we want to plant and grow churches.

Through the power of my Spirit

Through the power of my spirit, you'll take my word,
Not in your strength but by my power
As by my spirit, my truth is known,
That it's true sweetness may not sour.

Through the power of my Spirit, you'll show my love,
Not trying to show some paltry care
But loving each other with burning hearts
That those who see would stop and stare.

Through the power of my spirit, you'll know my truth
So, hunger each of you for more and more
To deeper swim within his truth
And daily rest upon his shore.

Through the power of my Spirit, you'll take my hope,
To broken hearts and hungry souls
Wherever I've put you, they need me most,
Only my love can make them whole.

Through the power of the Spirit, my church advances
By courageous men and women both,
Not worrying about second chances,
But going, obediently, loving me most.

Through the power of my Spirit, you stand today,
Not by your greatness, for there is none,
Yet, filled with my Spirit as I'd do today,
I can take and use each of you,
Every one.

So, do you want to see my church advance?
Do you want as Paul did to both strengthen and plant?
Well, start with your own hearts, be filled with my spirit,
And, knowing me better, go out and advance.
